Downtown Atlanta shootout leaves one injured, one detained

FOX 5 Atlanta reported that gunfire broke out around 1:32 a.m. Sunday near 165 Courtland Street NE after two men argued and then fired weapons at each other.

One man was shot multiple times in the torso and taken to Grady Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, according to police reports cited by FOX 5 Atlanta.

Officers detained a male suspect at the scene without further incident. The Atlanta Police Department recovered two handguns modified to fire fully automatic rounds.

Homicide detectives are leading the investigation, but officials have not disclosed the cause of the dispute or the total number of shots fired.

Authorities have not released the names of those involved or the specific charges against the detained suspect, FOX 5 Atlanta said.
