A parent in Orange County is advocating for enhanced safety measures at a crosswalk near East River High School in Orlando, WKMG News 6 ClickOrlando reported.

The concern arises because students walking to school in the early morning darkness are difficult for drivers to see until they are already in the roadway, creating a hazard.

Samantha Parrish, whose child has attended East River High School for two years, described witnessing multiple near-accidents involving students at the crosswalk before the first bell.

She emphasized that the lack of visibility makes it challenging for students to cross safely, highlighting the need for improvements to protect them.
