Florida Gators extend NCAA scoring streak to 481 games with late touchdown
Florida's football team avoided a shutout against Georgia, keeping their NCAA-record scoring streak alive at 481 games.
Florida's football team nearly ended their almost 40-year scoring streak during a game against SEC rival Georgia, but a late touchdown extended the NCAA-record streak to 481 games, WKMG News 6 ClickOrlando reported.
The Gators converted two critical fourth-down plays in the fourth quarter, including a 23-yard pass from quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. to tight end Luke Harpring and a pass-interference penalty drawn by receiver Dallas Wilson, which allowed them to continue their drive.
Jones then ran the ball in for a touchdown with just under seven minutes left in the game, preventing a shutout in a 27-8 loss in Atlanta. This scoring streak has been ongoing since 1988, spanning multiple coaching eras and notable players.
The streak is now 54 games longer than the next closest team, TCU, highlighting the Gators' consistent offensive performance over nearly four decades.
