Voters in South Florida, including Miami Gardens, Coral Gables, and North Dade, have been heading to the polls during the final days of early voting for the midterm election, WSVN reported. Candidates on the ballot have actively encouraged voter turnout, emphasizing the importance of participation in this election cycle.

Democratic candidate Angie Nixon, alongside Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, held a "Get out the Vote" caravan at Charles Hadley Park in Miami's Liberty City neighborhood. Nixon highlighted the significance of the election and expressed her commitment to supporting the Liberty City community. She also visited the North Dade regional library early voting site in Miami Gardens to rally support in her race against Republican Sen. Ashley Moody.

Meanwhile, U.S. Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar cast her vote at the Coral Gables branch library, expressing surprise at the long lines for a midterm election. She emphasized the importance of voting beyond party lines to uphold the American agenda.

In addition to candidate races, Miami voters will decide on Referendum 3, concerning the lease of nearly 28 acres of public waterfront on Virginia Key for redevelopment over an initial 45-year period. The referendum has sparked debate, with some critics raising concerns about potential impacts.
