Angie Nixon led a caravan through Miami-Dade to encourage voting and address immigration and cost of living concerns.
With Election Day just three days away, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Angie Nixon led a get-out-the-vote caravan through Miami-Dade County on Saturday, starting at Charles Hadley Park in Liberty City, CBS News Miami reported.
The caravan brought together local elected officials and supporters aiming to reach voters ahead of the midterm election. Stops included Liberty City, Opa-locka, and Miami Gardens.
During the event, Nixon addressed concerns about immigration enforcement, highlighting its impact on Haitian, Venezuelan, and Cuban communities. She advocated for more compassionate immigration policies to keep families together.
Nixon also spoke about the rising cost of living in South Florida, noting that many residents struggle to afford rent in Miami-Dade County.
Several local officials participated, including Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, state Rep. Felicia Robinson, Miami Commissioner Christine King, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, and Miami-Dade Commissioner Oliver Gilbert.
The caravan reflects efforts by candidates and community leaders to mobilize voters and discuss key issues affecting Miami-Dade residents as Election Day approaches.
