Warriors face thin center rotation amid Kristaps Porzingis' indefinite absence
Kristaps Porzingis has not joined Warriors since training camp due to health issues, leaving team short on center options.
Kristaps Porzingis has been absent from all Golden State Warriors activities since the day before training camp due to an undisclosed health issue, the SF Standard reported. The team has kept details private, but ESPN noted the 12-year veteran is seriously considering his basketball future.
Porzingis' absence has created challenges for the Warriors, who had planned on him to provide floor spacing, anchor the defense, and serve as a scoring option alongside Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler, who is currently recovering. Porzingis appeared in 15 of the Warriors' final 20 games last season.
With Porzingis out indefinitely, the Warriors' center rotation is limited to veterans Draymond Green, 36, and Al Horford, 40, along with younger players Charles Bassey and two-way contract Graham Ike, according to the SF Standard. This thin rotation has held up in recent games but may face fatigue over time.
