A crash on State Road 40 west of Still Road resulted in the death of a 12-year-old boy and serious injuries to four others, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The incident involved a 2024 Tesla Model Y traveling west and a 2025 Chevy Silverado traveling east. The Tesla veered to the right side of the road, then overcorrected to the left, entering the path of the Silverado. The vehicles collided front right to front right.

The drivers of both vehicles and a passenger in the Silverado were not injured and stayed at the scene, FHP said. However, one adult and three children were taken to a hospital with serious injuries and were reported in stable condition.

The 12-year-old boy was also transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
