The Georgia Bulldogs, currently ranked No. 2, delivered a commanding 42-7 victory over No. 12 Ole Miss on the road, strengthening their argument for the No. 1 position in the next Associated Press Top 25 rankings, Yahoo Sports reported.

The current No. 1 team, Miami, was unable to complete a comeback against No. 4 Notre Dame, which could open the door for Georgia to move up in the rankings, according to Yahoo Sports.

Other teams in contention for the top spot include undefeated Utah and UCLA, as noted by Yahoo Sports, highlighting the competitive nature of this week's rankings.

The updated AP Top 25 rankings are set to be released Sunday, with the College Football Playoff rankings following on Tuesday. The voting panel includes 60 media members nationwide, with Channel 2 sports director Zach Klein among them, whose ballots will be publicly available on WSBTV.com, Yahoo Sports added.
