Goose Creek hosts event for residents to review 2027 city budget
Residents can discuss the $96 million budget increase with city leaders at a community event Wednesday.
Goose Creek city officials are inviting residents to a 'Budget and Brews' event at Stones Throw Brewing Company on Wednesday evening to review the proposed 2027 budget, WCBD Count on 2 reported.
The event, scheduled from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., will be attended by Mayor Greg Habib, Chief Financial Officer Tyler Howanyk, and other city leaders who will discuss budget priorities and answer residents' questions, according to Live 5 WCSC.
The proposed 2027 budget totals about $96 million, which is $2.7 million more than the 2026 budget, with no increase in property taxes. Of this, $56 million is allocated for daily operations, including funding for nine new firefighters, thirteen new full-time city positions, and additional administrative roles.
City officials emphasized that the event aims to provide transparency about how tax dollars are spent and to gather community feedback before the City Council's final vote on November 10, Live 5 WCSC noted.
Residents unable to attend can view the full budget and submit input online, ensuring broader community involvement in the budget process.
