FBI raids Beverly Hills mansion linked to Eric Swalwell investigation
FBI agents executed a search warrant at billionaire Stephen Cloobeck's Beverly Hills home tied to probe of former Rep. Eric Swalwell.
FBI agents raided the Beverly Hills mansion of billionaire businessman Stephen Cloobeck on Tuesday morning as part of an investigation involving former Rep. Eric Swalwell, KTLA reported. The raid took place at Cloobeck's property on North Roxbury Drive, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The FBI confirmed they were executing a search warrant and stated that court documents are sealed and no arrests are planned at this time, according to an FBI spokesperson quoted by the Los Angeles Times.
Swalwell, a Democrat from Dublin, California, resigned from Congress in April and dropped out of the California governor's race following allegations of sexual assault, which he denied. He had stayed at Cloobeck's Beverly Hills home multiple times during his campaign and used it for political events, including filming a video denying the accusations.
Stephen Cloobeck is a billionaire who made his fortune in the timeshare industry and previously ran unsuccessfully for California governor. He had supported Swalwell's campaign before the allegations against Swalwell became public. Cloobeck has also recently been involved in a separate criminal case unrelated to this investigation, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The FBI's search of Cloobeck's Beverly Hills mansion is ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
