A video captured what appeared to be U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers detaining a man near Vineland Place and Otsego Street in North Hollywood on Friday morning, according to CBS News Los Angeles. The footage shows a man being taken away by masked officers just before a bystander walking two dogs appeared to pick something up from the ground.

The bystander was then rushed by two agents, one of whom pushed him into bushes while holding what looked like a handgun, CBS reported. The bystander quickly tossed the item and the agent backed away. The video also shows an agent holding what witnesses described as pepper spray, causing the bystander to run down the street, KTLA 5 reported.

Los Angeles Times reported that the bystander was not detained but was shoved into bushes and had a handgun pointed close to his face after tossing a spray canister dropped by another agent. The detained man was handcuffed and taken toward an unmarked SUV.

Damari Butler, a local resident, witnessed the incident and described the suddenness of the arrest and the gun being drawn at the bystander. He said there was no warning or identification requested before the man was grabbed.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass called the images and reports "alarming" and emphasized that every Angeleno deserves to feel safe in their community, CBS News Los Angeles reported. The Department of Homeland Security had not responded to requests for comment at the time of reporting.

The incident has drawn attention from local leaders and residents as the video circulated on social media. Further updates from authorities are awaited.
