Three relatives were arrested following a deadly attack on a Greek Orthodox church in Karak, Jordan, that killed nine and wounded dozens.
Jordanian authorities arrested three relatives in connection with a deadly attack on a Greek Orthodox church in the village of Hamoud in Karak, Jordan, according to Al Jazeera English and France 24.
The attack, which France 24 reports occurred during a funeral procession, killed nine people and wounded between 34 and 40 others.
The three suspects, described as Islamic extremists and members of one family, were injured during a dawn shootout with security forces in an abandoned house in Karak, where they refused to surrender, Al Jazeera English reported.
Authorities found no links between the suspects and external groups, according to Jordan's Public Security Directorate, and firearms and ammunition were recovered at their hideout.
The suspects are due to be brought before the courts, and Jordanian officials emphasized that investigations are ongoing and that those involved will be held accountable.
Officials also stressed that Jordan is determined to prevent such attacks from happening again and stated that "terrorism has no place among us."
