A man appeared in Melbourne Magistrates' Court charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of cocaine, according to dailymail.com. He faces additional charges related to fraud, described as deception concerning an insurance claim.

Police allege they found a list of individuals owing the man tens of thousands of dollars in drug debts during the investigation. The arrest followed a month-long covert operation targeting illicit drug distribution in Brighton.

The man was arrested at a Brighton East unit where police seized more than 300 grams of cocaine and cash. The drugs were found in multiple zip-lock bags during searches of the home and vehicles.

His lawyer informed the court that negotiations with the Office of Public Prosecutions are ongoing to resolve the matter, with further consultations planned. The man appeared via videolink from a correctional centre and was previously remanded in custody after an earlier trafficking charge that did not result in conviction.
