Justice Department seeks to keep Ilhan Omar search warrant sealed
Federal prosecutors want to keep the search warrant for Rep. Ilhan Omar's home sealed to protect an ongoing investigation.
Federal prosecutors have asked a judge to deny a request from over a dozen news organizations to unseal the search warrant for Representative Ilhan Omar's Washington, D.C. residence, The Hill reported.
The Justice Department argues that releasing the warrant could jeopardize the ongoing criminal investigation, according to the report.
The filing to keep the warrant sealed was heavily redacted and signed by Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, The Hill noted.
The news organizations had sought immediate public access to the search warrant, but federal prosecutors are currently opposing that move to maintain confidentiality during the investigation.
