Kaipo Olsen-Baker named World Rugby women's player of the year
New Zealand's Kaipo Olsen-Baker won the award after helping Black Ferns complete a series sweep of France.
Kaipo Olsen-Baker, New Zealand's number eight, was named World Rugby Women's Player of the Year, BBC Sport reported.
Olsen-Baker was recognized for her powerful ball-carrying, athleticism, and relentless work-rate throughout the year, according to Yahoo Sports.
The award was announced as the Black Ferns completed a home series sweep of France with a 36-7 win in the WXV, although Olsen-Baker missed the match due to an ankle injury.
Black Ferns flanker Elinor Plum-King was named World Rugby's Breakthrough Player of the Year, noted for her physicality and defensive work in her debut season.
New Zealand finished the year with 10 wins in 11 matches, their only loss coming to England by a last-second try, Yahoo Sports added.
