Man charged with murder after deadly crash at Camarillo Costco gas pumps
A Ventura County man faces murder charges after a fatal crash near the Camarillo Costco gas station.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office reported that a man was struck and killed near the gas pumps at the Costco in Camarillo on Tuesday night, according to the Los Angeles Times and CBS News Los Angeles.
Authorities identified the driver involved as a rabbi and educator from Agoura Hills. He was detained at the scene and later arrested on charges of felony murder and resisting or obstructing an officer, as stated by jail records and the sheriff’s office.
The victim, a 28-year-old man from Modesto, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Ventura County medical examiner’s office will perform the autopsy.
The Camarillo Costco warehouse itself has not yet opened to shoppers, though its gas station has been operating since May. It is unclear if the incident will affect the store’s planned opening on October 30.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case as a homicide through its Major Crimes Bureau. Authorities have asked anyone with information to contact detectives at the provided numbers.
