As the Tampa Bay Rays face off against the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series, cultural institutions in their cities have made a unique wager involving Claude Monet paintings, WUSF reported.

The Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) in St. Petersburg will loan its Monet painting "Houses of Parliament: Effect of Fog, London" to Milwaukee if the Brewers win the best-of-seven series. Conversely, if the Rays win, the Milwaukee Art Museum will send "Waterloo Bridge, Sunlight Effect" to St. Petersburg.

Both paintings are part of Monet's series capturing the changing light and weather along the River Thames in London. The MFA's Monet is currently on display in an upstairs gallery during the World Series, while its usual gallery is closed for reinstallation.

The museum directors have embraced the wager with enthusiasm. Milwaukee Art Museum director Kim Sajet expressed support for the Brewers and invited the MFA director to visit Milwaukee. MFA director Klaudio Rodriguez voiced support for the Rays and welcomed Milwaukee's Monet to Florida if the Rays prevail.
