Netflix's Untold series will explore the case of Sacramento-born Daejon Love accused of defrauding victims by posing as a 49ers player.
Netflix announced that its Untold documentary series will feature the case of Daejon Love, a man originally from Sacramento, who is accused of a $1.3 million scam involving at least 26 victims, according to myk104.com.
Love allegedly posed as a San Francisco 49ers player and a real estate investor to convince women he met on dating apps to give him money for supposed investment opportunities. The FBI identified some victims as residents of California and other states.
Love was arrested on August 24 at an airport in Boise, Idaho, along with an 18-year-old accomplice. Both face charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud.
The documentary, Untold: Wide Deceiver, aims to focus on the accusers and the story behind Love's internet persona, which included social media posts showing him in 49ers gear.
According to Portland FBI Special Agent in Charge Doug Olson, Love used media searches to reinforce his false identity as a football player and investor, making his story more believable to victims.
