Voting machines at polling sites in Westchester County, New York, encountered widespread problems on Tuesday when ballot scanners stopped accepting votes, state officials reported.

New York Attorney General Letitia James responded by reassuring voters and stating that her office is monitoring the issue closely.

Her office is also in communication with state and local authorities to address the ballot scanning problems.

Officials have not yet provided details on the cause of the scanner malfunctions or how they are being resolved.
