Former President Barack Obama visited Atlanta Wednesday to rally support for U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff and gubernatorial nominee Keisha Lance Bottoms ahead of the nationally significant midterm elections, Atlanta News First reported.

Ossoff is running for re-election in a Senate race seen as critical by national Democrats to maintaining a narrow balance of power in the U.S. Senate. His Republican challenger, U.S. Rep. Mike Collins, has closely aligned himself with former President Donald Trump, who recently held a rally in Perry, Georgia, supporting Collins and other GOP candidates.

Bottoms is campaigning to become Georgia’s 84th governor and the nation’s first Black female governor, competing against Republican Rick Jackson to succeed outgoing Governor Brian Kemp.

Obama’s Atlanta visit is part of a broader Democratic effort in Georgia, which will also feature former Vice President Kamala Harris hosting a community town hall with NAACP President Derrick Johnson and leading a Fulton County Democrats fundraising event later this week.

Early voting in Georgia ends Friday, with Election Day scheduled for November 3, 2026, underscoring the state's continuing role in the national political landscape, according to Atlanta News First.
