Ramp from Cedar City Drive to westbound U.S. 54 closes for three weeks
Ramp closure is part of North Jefferson City highway expansion, with detours in place for motorists.
The ramp from Callaway County Route W (Cedar City Drive/Airport Road) to westbound U.S. Route 54 will close starting Monday as part of a highway expansion project in North Jefferson City, according to the Jefferson City News Tribune and the Fulton Sun.
This closure follows the earlier shutdown of the ramp from westbound U.S. 54 to Airport Road, resulting in no access to or from Airport Road and westbound U.S. 54 for three weeks, the outlets reported.
During the closure, motorists are advised to use eastbound U.S. 54 to the U.S. Route 63 interchange to reach westbound U.S. 54. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) said the closure is necessary to complete pavement work for the new U.S. 63/U.S. 54 lane over the Missouri River bridge.
Once the work is complete, full interchange access will be restored, including a new loop ramp onto westbound U.S. 54 and a dedicated lane for southbound U.S. 63 onto the Missouri River bridge, according to MoDOT.
The $4.19 million project began in June 2026 and is expected to finish by May 1, 2027. MoDOT reminds drivers to buckle up, avoid distractions, obey traffic signs, and slow down in work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules may change.
