Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections Alina Garcia reported that one of the South Florida congressional races is headed for a recount and legal challenges, according to WPLG Local 10.

The midterm elections highlighted a shift in South Florida’s Latino vote, as noted by UnidosUS’ Jared Nordlund on the same program.

State Rep. Christine Hunschofsky and State Sen. Ana Maria Rodriguez discussed these developments on 'This Week in South Florida,' a local news program.

Jeff Brandes of the Florida Policy Project explained that Florida voters approved an increase to the homestead exemption, which could reduce property tax bills significantly over the next few years.

This change was supported by 62% of Florida voters and may eventually lead to the elimination of property taxes, impacting homeowners across the state.
