Santa Clara County has opened a new inpatient behavioral health facility for youth on the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center campus, according to San José Spotlight.

Previously, children in need of acute psychiatric care had to be transported hours away for treatment, highlighting a significant gap in local services.

The new Behavioral Health Pavilion offers 35 beds and aims to provide timely and accessible treatment within the county.

This development marks a significant improvement in mental health resources for young people in Santa Clara County, reducing the need for long-distance transfers for care.
