A sewer main break in West Ashley has led to the closure of the West Ashley Greenway between Coburg Road and Farmfield Avenue, Charleston Water System officials reported.

The break occurred on Tuesday, prompting crews to close the area on Wednesday to carry out repairs, according to WCBD Count on 2.

Officials are asking residents to avoid nearby marshes and waterways until bacteria testing confirms safe levels, as reported by Live 5 WCSC.

This incident follows a similar sewer main break in nearly the same location less than a month ago.
