After historic election wins, Texas Democrats Talarico and Hinojosa celebrated at an Austin Whataburger, the regional fast food chain known for its orange-and-white-striped cups, Bon Appetit reported.

Talarico flipped a Senate seat for the Democrats, defeating a scandal-plagued Republican, while Hinojosa became the first Democratic governor of Texas in over 30 years, noted the outlet.

Both candidates played key roles in the recent blue wave during midterm elections, with Talarico campaigning against billionaire-funded opponents and Hinojosa focusing on corruption and data centers.

Whataburger, established in 1950 in Corpus Christi, Texas, has long been a social hub for communities, offering affordable meals and serving as a gathering spot for families and youth, the report explained.

The celebration with Whataburger’s signature oversized sodas and budget-friendly meals reflected the affordability politics that resonated with voters this cycle, according to Bon Appetit.
