Tony Awards to air on CBS through 2032 under new five-year deal
CBS has renewed its broadcast agreement with the Tony Awards, continuing a partnership since 1978 through 2032.
The Tony Awards will continue to be broadcast on CBS through at least 2032 under a new five-year deal announced by the network, Variety reported. This renewal extends the Tony Awards' long-standing relationship with CBS, which has been the broadcast home of the awards since 1978, making it the longest-running major awards show-network partnership.
According to Hollywood Reporter, the 80th annual Tony Awards will air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on June 13, 2027. The awards show has been airing in two parts since 2021, with the creative awards segment streaming on Paramount-owned platforms.
Deadline noted that the Tony Awards are produced by a joint venture of the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League. The 2027 ceremony will be produced by Raj Kapoor and Sarah Levine Hall, who will serve as co-showrunners, with Patrick Menton and Rob Paine as co-executive producers.
CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach expressed enthusiasm about continuing the network’s support for the arts and the Tony Awards, highlighting the show's role in showcasing Broadway talent to viewers nationwide. The American Theatre Wing and Broadway League also expressed excitement about extending their partnership with CBS and marking the 80th anniversary of the awards with a strong show.
