Residents of Elizabeth City and surrounding areas can expect patchy fog early Thursday morning, which may reduce visibility until about 10 a.m., according to WITN.

Temperatures Thursday will start in the low to mid 60s, rising to the low 80s in the afternoon as cloud cover gradually decreases. Light, scattered showers are possible later in the day across eastern North Carolina.

Friday will begin with cloudy, damp conditions and a few light showers moving in from the south-southwest. A cold front approaching from the west will increase rainfall intensity and bring a chance of strong to severe thunderstorms in the early afternoon, WITN reported.

Rainfall totals on Friday are expected to range from half an inch to a full inch in most areas. The rain is forecast to end overnight, leading to drier and cooler weather over the weekend with lows dipping into the upper 30s early next week.
