Republican Laurie Buckhout conceded the race for North Carolina’s 1st Congressional District to Democratic incumbent Don Davis, according to WITN.

Buckhout called Davis to congratulate him and expressed respect for the voters’ decision in eastern North Carolina. She also thanked her family and supporters and said she will continue advocating for the nation.

Don Davis has represented the 1st District in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2023 and previously served in the North Carolina Senate from 2009 to 2011 and 2013 to 2023, WTKR reported.

The 1st Congressional District covers much of Northeastern North Carolina, making this election directly relevant to local residents.

This election was a rematch of the 2024 contest between Davis and Buckhout, with Davis securing a second term in office.
