Scarlett Johansson says Batman 2 role was hard to figure out, gave existential angst
Scarlett Johansson describes her role in The Batman Part II as challenging and difficult to crack, revealing little about the character.
Scarlett Johansson has spoken about her upcoming role in The Batman Part II, describing it as a challenging part that caused her "a lot of existential angst," according to the Hollywood Reporter. The actress said the role was "very hard to figure out" and difficult to crack, though she was uncertain why, whether it was the role itself or her personal circumstances.
Johansson's character in the sequel to the 2022 film directed by Matt Reeves has not yet been revealed. Reeves confirmed Johansson's involvement in May, alongside other new cast members including Sebastian Stan and Brian Tyree Henry, as reported by Variety and Deadline.
Production on The Batman Part II experienced a brief pause in October when Reeves stepped away for a family matter. Steven Soderbergh then took over to help complete the final principal photography, according to Hollywood Reporter and Variety.
The film is expected to focus more on Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne following the first installment, which concentrated heavily on Batman's origin story. Details about Johansson's character remain undisclosed, and the film's storyline will include elements from Batman's Rogues Gallery, as noted by Variety.
