Texas OT Trevor Goosby out for season with knee injury
Top NFL prospect and Texas left tackle Trevor Goosby will miss the rest of the season after injuring his knee against Ole Miss.
Texas offensive tackle Trevor Goosby sustained a left knee injury during the first quarter of the Longhorns' 34-27 victory over Ole Miss, according to Yahoo Sports.
The 6-foot-7, 325-pound lineman, considered a top NFL draft prospect and projected first-round pick in 2027, will miss the remainder of the season, Yahoo Sports reported.
Goosby was carted off the field and later seen on crutches. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian described the injury as not looking "very good," per Yahoo Sports.
Following Goosby's injury, backup Andre Cojoe struggled in pass protection, including allowing a strip-sack touchdown that helped Ole Miss mount a comeback, Yahoo Sports noted.
Texas, currently 5-2, faces challenges ahead with five games remaining and will need to find solutions on the offensive line to maintain their competitiveness this season.
Goosby had returned to Texas for his senior year aiming to improve and help the team contend for the College Football Playoff, but his injury now sidelines him for the rest of the campaign.
