UCLA stays unbeaten with 34-20 win over Minnesota
UCLA Bruins remain undefeated after late surge led by two long touchdown passes in Minnesota victory.
UCLA maintained its undefeated record with a 34-20 win at Minnesota, as reported by CBS News Los Angeles. The Bruins, ranked No. 5, were one of the last three undefeated teams in the FBS heading into the game.
Quarterback Ty Dieffenbach threw two 75-yard touchdown passes to Aidan Mizell in the fourth quarter, helping UCLA pull away from the Gophers. Dieffenbach, who took over for the injured starter, had a career-high 303 yards on just eight completions despite two turnovers.
The Bruins' running game contributed to the victory, while Minnesota's Wayne Knight rushed for 109 yards and his 15th touchdown of the season.
Minnesota briefly tied the game late in the third quarter, but defensive lapses allowed UCLA to score quickly on long passes, which Minnesota's coach P.J. Fleck described as the key moments of the game.
UCLA's coach, Chesney, emphasized focusing on winning games rather than external rankings or narratives, highlighting the team's turnaround from a 3-9 record the previous season to their current success.
