Family remembers victims 30 years after double murder at Cloverleaf Mall in Chesterfield
Chesterfield family honors Cheryl Edwards and Charlita Singleton, seeking answers in 1996 unsolved double homicide.
Thirty years after the double homicide of Cheryl Sonya Edwards and Charlita Singleton at Cloverleaf Mall, their family continues to seek justice, NBC12 reported. The murders occurred on November 7, 1996, at the mall, which has since been replaced by a Kroger on Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield County.
Edwards and Singleton worked at the All-For-One store at the mall at the time of their deaths. The case remains unsolved, and Edwards' family said they have not been able to move on without answers, according to WWBT.
Every year on November 7, Edwards' family visits her grave to place flowers, and this year they marked the 30th anniversary with a celebration of life rather than sadness. Family members from multiple generations gathered to share food, games, and memories, wearing purple in honor of Edwards' favorite color, NBC12 reported.
Edwards' son, Isaiah, described a personal connection to his mother, recalling a moment he woke up crying at the time her body was found. The family expressed hope that they will eventually find closure but emphasized the importance of remembering and grieving together.
The unsolved nature of the case continues to affect the family deeply, with relatives expressing determination to keep seeking answers and honoring the victims' memories.
