Alanis Morissette comes out as pansexual in podcast interview
Singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette revealed her pansexuality during a recent podcast episode.
Alanis Morissette, the Grammy-winning singer known for her 1995 album 'Jagged Little Pill,' publicly came out as pansexual during an episode of the Handsome podcast, according to dailymail.com and inquisitr.com. The podcast is hosted by Tig Notaro, Fortune Feimster, and Mae Martin.
The revelation came near the end of the episode when co-host Fortune Feimster asked if Morissette had ever considered being a lesbian, referencing the emotional themes in her music. Morissette responded by stating she is pansexual, a term describing attraction regardless of gender identity or biological sex.
Co-host Tig Notaro initially questioned whether Morissette was joking, but the singer confirmed her statement. The hosts humorously noted that she should have shared the news earlier in the podcast, to which Morissette replied she preferred to leave it for the epilogue.
Morissette has been married to hip-hop artist Mario Treadway, known as Souleye, since 2010, and they have three children. She has generally kept her relationships private but has been open about past struggles with love and addiction.
The singer recently opened her residency show 'Butterfly with a Machete' at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, which combines music with storytelling. The show and Morissette's openness about her identity contribute to ongoing conversations about sexuality and transformation.
