The University of Georgia is participating in a national research initiative focused on extending autonomous vehicle technology to rural and tribal areas, WSB-TV reported.
This effort aims to bring self-driving technology beyond urban centers, addressing the unique transportation needs of less populated regions.
UGA researchers will contribute to the development and testing of autonomous systems tailored for rural environments, enhancing mobility options for these communities.
The project reflects a broader push to make advanced transportation technologies accessible nationwide, including in Georgia's rural areas.
