Man arrested after drive-by shooting at Acworth home with children inside

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported that a 50-year-old man from Cartersville was arrested after allegedly firing gunshots into a home in Acworth while multiple children were inside. The incident occurred on McCollum Way in unincorporated Cherokee County, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.

Deputies responded to the scene after homeowners reported hearing multiple gunshots outside. Upon arrival, officers found bullet holes in the home but confirmed no injuries among the children inside. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said they identified the suspect through neighborhood surveillance footage, license plate reader technology, and witness interviews.

The suspect, Taconda Lashad Bush, was taken into custody on October 30, 2026, with assistance from the Bartow County Sheriff's Office. He is held without bond on felony charges of aggravated assault and aggravated stalking. Authorities noted that additional charges are pending.

Investigators believe the shooting is connected to a prior workplace conflict involving Bush, which resulted in a permanent protective order against him last year. They are also looking into a previous shooting at the same home on September 27 to determine if Bush was involved.
