Woman arrested on Treasure Island after fatal Tenderloin hit-and-run
San Francisco police arrested a woman on Treasure Island after a hit-and-run in the Tenderloin left a man dead early Sunday.
San Francisco police responded to a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Ellis Street in the Tenderloin at 1:06 a.m. Sunday, according to the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD). Officers found an injured man with life-threatening injuries and took him to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver fled the scene before officers arrived, but police traced the vehicle to Treasure Island. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers had already stopped the driver, an adult woman, for an unrelated traffic violation.
SFPD officers informed CHP about the fatal collision and linked the woman and vehicle to the incident. They developed probable cause and arrested the woman, who was booked into county jail on homicide charges. Her identity has not been released.
The vehicle involved was towed for evidence, and the SFPD homicide unit is leading the ongoing investigation. Despite the arrest, the case remains open as authorities continue their work.
