Beth Jenkins, a 42-year-old woman from Merthyr Tydfil, noticed a small lump in her breast in 2018 but was initially told it was likely glandular tissue after an ultrasound, with no biopsy performed, according to BBC Health.

After giving birth to her daughter, Jenkins observed the lump had grown significantly following an accidental kick to her chest. When she visited her GP practice in October 2024, she was told she was "too young to have breast cancer" and that the lump might be related to infection or medical anxiety linked to postnatal depression.

Despite these reassurances, Jenkins pushed for further investigations and was eventually diagnosed with lobular breast cancer, with a 5cm tumor and the disease having spread to three lymph nodes, the BBC reported.

Keir Hardie Health Park, the practice where Jenkins was seen, declined to discuss individual cases but encouraged patients to make a second appointment if they have ongoing health concerns.
