Woman shot and killed during birthday party fight in Lillington

A woman was fatally shot during a fight at a birthday party in a home on Murchison Lane near Lillington, according to the Harnett County Sheriff's Office, reported ABC11 WTVD.

Deputies responded to the shooting just before 4 a.m. Sunday and found the woman with a gunshot wound. Despite first aid efforts by partygoers and life-saving measures by EMS, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The altercation occurred hours after deputies had responded to the same address around 1:15 a.m. for a loud music complaint involving at least 20 people, the Sheriff's Office said.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone who attended the party or has information to contact the Harnett County TIP Line or Detective Division.
