The Yocum Institute for Arts Education is presenting an exhibition titled "The Landscapes of Berks County," featuring nearly 100 original paintings by four award-winning local artists. The exhibition runs through November 21 in the Holleran Gallery at the institute's West Lawn location.

The artists involved are Jonathan Bond, Robert Seabourne, Russell Slocum, and Karen Weber, each bringing distinctive styles and perspectives inspired by Berks County's places, history, and natural beauty.

Jonathan Bond, based in Kempton, draws from Pennsylvania Dutch farmsteads, fields, stone walls, and rolling hills near the Kittatinny Ridge, using a muted palette to create dreamlike works in egg tempera, oil, and watercolor. Robert Seabourne, a Shillington native, paints scenes that tell stories from his experiences or local history, employing bold colors and expressive brushwork.

Russell Slocum of Wyomissing focuses on landscapes inspired by Southeastern Pennsylvania and the Maine coast, often painting en plein air or from his photographs and sketches. He has included ten paintings being publicly exhibited for the first time. Slocum is also a longtime advocate for the local arts community, co-directing West Reading’s Art Plus Gallery and co-founding Plein Air West Reading.

This exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to experience Berks County through varied artistic interpretations, highlighting the region's character and natural environment.
