Alfie’s, a new restaurant located in a Georgetown alleyway, focuses on northern Thai dishes made with local ingredients from the DMV area, Eater reported.

The restaurant was founded by chefs Justin Ahn and Alex McCoy, who started Alfie’s as a pop-up in 2017 before serving in New York and London, and recently established a permanent location in Georgetown.

One of the signature dishes is a limited-quantity Thai steak frites featuring rib-eye steaks cooked with a massaman curry peppercorn sauce, with only five served each night.

Other menu items include a labor-intensive green papaya som tam salad tossed with a spicy dressing, and a rich pork belly curry simmered with traditional northern Thai flavors.

The kitchen team also prepares sticky rice soaked overnight and steamed for the authentic texture, complementing the northern Thai culinary experience.

Co-owner McCoy described being a chef as a lifestyle and expressed hope that Alfie’s will be a place for diners to enjoy and immerse themselves in the food and atmosphere.
