Actors seek help to qualify for SAG-AFTRA health insurance through social media campaign
Cheyenne Jackson's 'One Job Away' campaign highlights actors needing one more job to meet SAG-AFTRA health insurance eligibility.
Cheyenne Jackson launched a social media campaign called 'One Job Away' to draw attention to actors who need just one more job to qualify for SAG-AFTRA health insurance, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The campaign has seen a large response, with hundreds of actors reaching out to be featured, many of whom are close to meeting the $28,000 annual earnings minimum for coverage.
Jackson, known for roles in shows like American Horror Story and 30 Rock, shared that many actors, including those who have been leads on television shows for years, are struggling to meet the insurance eligibility requirements amid a tough job market in Hollywood, The Hollywood Reporter noted.
He was inspired to start the campaign after nearly missing the eligibility cutoff himself in 2025. Jackson called actress Kathy Bates, who helped him secure a small role on her show Matlock to meet the earnings threshold, as reported by Variety.
Jackson’s goal with 'One Job Away' is to post headshots and bios of actors who need work so casting directors or others in the industry might help them secure roles to qualify for insurance, The Hollywood Reporter said.
The campaign highlights systemic challenges faced by SAG-AFTRA members in maintaining health insurance coverage due to the industry's current job scarcity, Variety reported.
