Angel Studios bans sex, nudity, F-words and misuse of God’s name in films
Angel Studios introduces 'The Angel Promise' to enforce values-based content standards and involve viewers in content approval.
Angel Studios, a Christian production company and distributor, has implemented a new content policy called "The Angel Promise," which bans on-screen sex, nudity, use of F-words, and misuse of God’s name, Deadline reported. This initiative comes five years after the company's launch and aims to uphold values-based standards in its productions.
According to Variety, the policy also includes giving paying members the opportunity to vote on movies and TV shows, ensuring that a majority approve of the content before release. This participatory approach reflects the studio's commitment to its audience's values.
Jeff Harmon, Angel Studios' co-founder and chief content officer, explained in a Fox News interview that Hollywood has drifted away from serving values-based audiences, despite being home to excellent storytellers and storytelling infrastructure. The new policy seeks to address this gap by maintaining strict content standards.
The Angel Promise includes three main commitments: audience approval of content, strict standards for sex and language, and expanded parental controls. Harmon emphasized that there will never be nudity or sex acts shown on screen, reinforcing Angel Studios' identity as a faith-friendly studio.
The policy also restricts profanity in titles submitted for young children aged 12 and under, further aligning with the studio’s family-oriented approach. These measures reflect Angel Studios' effort to differentiate itself in the entertainment industry by adhering to specific moral guidelines.
