The Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) will host a special 30th anniversary screening of the iconic Indian film 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' in its 2028 edition, Hollywood Reporter reported.

Directed by Karan Johar in his debut, the film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji, and is recognized as a landmark of Indian cinema. Johar and other guests are expected to attend the event, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The film was partly shot in Scotland, featuring locations such as Eilean Donan Castle, Glen Coe, Tantallon Castle, and Inchmahome Priory, marking it as the first major Indian production to extensively film in Scotland, the Hollywood Reporter added.

This anniversary event follows a recent meeting in Mumbai between Johar, Scotland's First Minister John Swinney, and Screen Scotland's interim executive director David Smith, where they discussed Scotland's potential as a destination and partner for Indian film and television production, Variety reported.

Swinney expressed enthusiasm about future collaborations between Scottish and Indian filmmaking, highlighting Scotland's strong infrastructure and world-class filming locations as assets for co-productions and talent development, Variety noted.
