Baltimore School for the Arts named Maryland Blue Ribbon School for 2026-27
Maryland honors 23 schools with Blue Ribbon status, including Baltimore School for the Arts as the city's sole recipient.
Maryland has announced 23 schools awarded the Blue Ribbon status for the 2026-2027 academic year, Governor Wes Moore said, according to CBS News. The list includes 12 public schools, six from the Archdiocese of Baltimore, and five from the Archdiocese of Washington.
Among the 12 public schools honored, Baltimore School for the Arts is the only school located within Baltimore city to receive the award. Three public schools from Baltimore and Montgomery counties combined were also recognized.
The award recognizes schools based on their performance on state and national tests and their success in closing achievement gaps among student groups. Recipients will receive a banner, flag, and award citation.
The honorees will be formally recognized during the Maryland State Board of Education meeting on December 8 and again during the General Assembly legislative session next spring. Governor Moore reinstated the Blue Ribbon Schools program last year after the national program was discontinued.
