Chapel Hill police prepare for safe Halloween on Franklin Street
Authorities focus on safety and fun during Halloween and UNC football game in Chapel Hill.
Chapel Hill police are preparing for a busy Halloween night on Franklin Street, aiming to keep celebrations safe and enjoyable for visitors to local businesses and Kenan Stadium, WRAL reported.
Large crowds are expected as Halloween coincides with a University of North Carolina football game against the University of Miami. Police will treat the night like any other home game, with support from UNC officers and state troopers to manage traffic, according to WRAL.
No road closures are planned, and groups of people are encouraged to wear reflective or bright-colored clothing and to use crosswalks. Drivers are urged to be vigilant for pedestrians throughout the evening.
Authorities also emphasized responsible drinking and the use of rideshare services to ensure safety. The Chapel Hill Police Community Services Department highlighted the priority of keeping trick-or-treaters safe while ensuring everyone enjoys the festivities.
