NC State football secured a 31-10 victory over California in their first game following the firing of head coach Dave Doeren, WRAL reported. The game took place at Raleigh's Carter-Finley Stadium on Saturday, marking a new chapter for the Wolfpack under interim head coach Todd Goebbel.

The Wolfpack, which had struggled in second halves throughout the season, outscored Cal 21-0 after halftime, demonstrating a strong defensive effort that limited Cal to 269 total yards of offense, according to WRAL. Goebbel, who has been with the coaching staff since 2019, earned a game ball from the players after his first game as head coach.

Defensive coordinator Charlton Warren was promoted to playcaller this week and shared a celebratory moment with Goebbel on the sideline following the win. The team’s performance offered a positive response to a challenging week that included a loss at Stanford and the coaching change, CBS17 noted.

NC State's record improved to 3-4 overall as they look to build momentum for the remainder of the season under Goebbel's leadership, CBS17 added. The team and fans now look ahead to upcoming games with renewed optimism.
