Charleston holds 26th annual Veterans Day Parade with road closures
Charleston honored veterans with its annual parade Sunday, causing road closures downtown from 10 a.m. to noon.
Charleston celebrated its 26th annual Veterans Day Parade Sunday, with flags, patriotic floats, and crowds gathering downtown to honor military veterans, WCBD reported.
The event was hosted by the City of Charleston and the Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System, continuing a long-standing tradition of community recognition for veterans, WCBD added.
To accommodate the parade, the Charleston Police Department announced road closures starting at 10 a.m. along the route from Concord and Market Streets to Broad Street near Colonial Lake, according to WCSC.
Staging for the parade began at 8:30 a.m. at Concord and Market Streets, with the parade expected to conclude by noon when roads will reopen, WCSC reported.
Access to the South of Broad neighborhood was limited during the parade, but police officers were stationed along the route to assist with traffic flow and neighborhood access, WCSC noted.
