The California Highway Patrol (CHP) pursued a suspected DUI driver who fled from Orange County into Los Angeles County, CBS News Los Angeles reported. The pursuit began in Anaheim and continued as the suspect drove a white sedan with tinted windows, often speeding through intersections with headlights off.

Aerial footage showed the suspect briefly exiting the vehicle near N. Concord Street and E. Cesar Chavez Avenue in Boyle Heights before getting back in and driving slowly around the area, passing two law enforcement vehicles. The suspect then accelerated again, prompting CHP officers to call off the chase due to safety concerns.

During the pursuit, the driver ran over a speed bump at high speed, causing the trunk to pop open. The suspect attempted to close it but was unsuccessful and continued driving. Eventually, the vehicle was blocked by another car at N. Ezra Street and E. Chavez Avenue, where the suspect surrendered after exchanging words with CHP officers.

The chase involved multiple CHP units and reached speeds over 100 mph on the 605 Freeway, according to KTLA 5. The Anaheim Police Department was also involved early in the pursuit before CHP took over in Los Angeles County.
