Gilroy is conducting its first district-based City Council election, moving away from its previous at-large system, according to San José Spotlight.

Early results show Diana Sanchez Bentz, Christina Tovar, and Rebeca Armendariz leading in the races for Districts 4, 5, and 6 respectively.

There are eight candidates in total competing across the three districts, with two candidates in District 4 and three candidates each in Districts 5 and 6.

The election marks a significant change in Gilroy's local governance structure, aiming to provide more localized representation for residents in each district.
