Coastal flood warning in effect for San Diego County until 1 PM Thursday
NWS warns of significant coastal flooding in San Diego County coastal areas through Thursday afternoon.
The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning for San Diego County coastal areas until 1 PM PDT Thursday, October 29, according to the NWS San Diego office.
This warning indicates significant coastal flooding is expected, which may lead to numerous road closures and inundation of low-lying properties including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure. Some shoreline erosion is also anticipated.
Following the warning, a Coastal Flood Advisory will be in effect from 1 PM Thursday to 2 PM Friday, signaling minor coastal flooding during that period.
Residents and infrastructure managers in the affected areas are advised to prepare for rising water levels and take appropriate measures to protect life and property. The highest tides are expected around 11 AM Thursday and noon Friday, with observed high tides 1.4 to 1.6 feet above normal astronomical predictions.
